The collection of graphic art at the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín was established similarly to the painting collection and drawing collection. Here, too, its acquisitions were based on purchases from the Zlín Salons and were closely linked to the Gallery’s exhibition programme. The collection contains not only works by established Czech and Slovak artists, but also works by contemporary authors, including the older generation active in the 1960s, middle-aged authors, and the youngest artists. Since 1990, acquisitions have focused on works of Czech contemporary art within the scope of the Gallery’s general emphasis on contemporary fine arts. The Gallery also aims to coordinate its acquisitions of drawings and graphic art with its painting and plastic art collections in order to create a comprehensive sampling of art work in the area of the Gallery’s research interests, with a special view to works of value created in the region.
